Pansit (Debutante)

Aug 1, 2009

A story of coming of age, generations of slavery and the extent of a daughter’s love for her family.

At a young age, May Ann witnessed three of her siblings died because of poverty, since her parents could not afford to bring them to hospital for medical attention. Due to the strings of death in their family, May Ann (17) stood up and stopped schooling and entered as a housemaid to the Yangzons – a family where her grandmother and mother served as housemaid. Though May Ann did not like the idea of being a maid, she gave up her dream just to support her family and send her other sibling to school.
