Ryan, a vendor of boiled corn in Tondo, has always strived to be a good husband and father. But when he suffers a stroke that affects his speech and paralyzes half of his body, he finds himself helpless as his wife leaves him for another man and takes their two daughters with her. Despite his condition, Ryan makes several attempts to make his family whole again. He starts to beg for his wife to come back home, renovate their house, and work even harder in order to prove to his wife that he is still capable of supporting their family despite his detrimental condition. Eventually, his wife ends up leaving their children with him to take care of by himself. Taking on the responsibility of a single parent, an incapacitated Ryan even teaches his children how to read, accompanies them to school, and generally guides them through thick and thin. Ryan does not let his condition stop him from providing the basic needs of his children, such as food, education, and stability. Until one day, while celebrating one of his daughter’s upcoming graduation at a fast-food restaurant, a stranger captures their photo and posts it online, highlighting Ryan’s selflessness as he only ordered food for his daughters but not for himself. The photo, viewed by many as “touching” and “inspiring”, went viral. Since then, Ryan has been receiving medical assistance as well as help for his daughters’ education from random people.
